Can VoIP Fly?
Flyers can now surf the Internet while jetting to the next state or country, as some airlines now have WiFi connection on board their aircraft. But wait, there’s more. Talks are happening of VoIP finally being on board skybound aircraft too. The only question is, “Are we ready for it?”

And lastly, who would have thought that VoIP would invade the campus, in this case, Maine’s Bowdoin College?
You’d think that colleges and universities would like to cut costs and just stick to good-ol’ landline phones, right, but, as Bowdoin College Manager of Data Systems William Kunitz said that their department’s original plan was to install landline phones in all the bedrooms in the Coles Tower dormitory.
But when it became apparent that there won’t be enough power to support 207 phones, Kunitz’s department stopped short of installing more when they had installed 60 units.
“As we replaced phones, we found phones unplugged, stuck under beds, buried on bookshelves and in some cases, missing entirely—so we didn’t feel it would be too great a hardship to share a phone in the common area,” Kunitz said.
And that was the 3rd Week of January’s VoIP news roundup, one and all. “Tune in” next week for another exciting roundup of news all over the VoIP universe. ![]()
