About admin

I'm obviously an Asterisk fan and I run a couple blogs here and there. That's about it.

Spanning Sync Discount

I know many of the readers here are Mac users so I thought I’d share a good deal for you from Google Tutor – Get $5 off your purchase with this Spanning Sync discount.

Spanning Sync enables two way syncing between iCal and Google Calendar.

If you aren’t sure if it is for you check out Christine’s Spanning Sync review.

Big discounts with Tracfone codes!

I recently got a couple Tracfone’s for my family. They are a great deal just as they are but, I got one phone 100% free using Dan’s promo codes. His site has much to be desired, but the codes work, which saved me at least 100 bucks!! If you are looking for a Tracfone I suggest checking his site or looking for discounts elsewhere before you buy — it’s worth it!

5 minutes to free blog traffic!

Unless you’ve been under a rock the last few days you’ve probably heard of a new blog widget called BlogRush.

It’s a system that allows you to show your blog headlines on other people’s blogs in return for doing the same. I wasn’t that interested until my buddy Google Tutor got 182 visitors in 24 hours after joining! Wow, that’s impressive.

So…I’m giving it a shot, the sign up is here, can’t lose since it’s free imo. Let me know if you do as well.

Shoebuy.com Coupons and Promo Codes

It is a little late for me, I just spent $200+ on a couple pairs of new shoes at Shoebuy.com, but hopefully this can save some of you some dinero.

One of our long time readers MrMary sent me this site for Shoebuy Coupons after I mentioned just shopping there during one of our chats. I was skeptical, but after doing a little due diligence it looks like it is a legit way to save quite a bit on shoes.

What’s good about this site is that it organizes the deals into logical categories for you like coupons, promotional codes, and other discounts so that you don’t have to search the web for them (big time saver!). The creator of the site also provides 3rd party reviews of Shoebuy so you can see what others think of the store.

I’ve been a long time customer of Shoebuy.com so this with eventually save me some good money, I hope you find it useful too. If so, please let me know.

Back to the Basics – Config Files

The configuration files in Asterisk are all text based. Nothing too complicated. If you installed the sample .conf files, then they will have a default setup and will have everything commented nicely so that you can learn your way through them.

The config files have the extention of “.conf” and are located in “/etc/asterisk”. The main file that you will play with is the extentions.conf. This is where ALL the main functionality in Asterisk comes from. In this file you will place the dial plan. There is a tool that I like to use called “The Dialplanner” that will help you in setting up your dial plan. This way it’s all point and click and you can just copy and paste it over to your file through SSH or whatever you want.

If you want to get techincal, you can include other files in the .conf by using the “#include” function. If you know PHP at all, this does the same thing as the include function in PHP. Go figure, haha.
